| New Dark Dragon will be the first Fire Emblem to include a proper, and much better than the arena modes from previous game, multiplayer mode. This multiplayer mode will be playable both locally and over Wifi. Voice chat is also supported for friend matches (using Friend Codes). |
| Multiplayer games will be played on a special map. The objective of the multiplayer mode is to either capture the castle in the centre of the map; once captured the castle flag will change to your team flag, at the end of the game the player that has successfully captured the castle wins. Or if you defeat all of your opponents units.
You may select up to 5 units from either your own saved game, or you can use rental units downloaded from a friends game, or the Nintendo Wifi servers to use in the multiplayer maps. |

| Protection Cards |
| When you win a game you will be awarded a special "Protection sign" card. This card can be applied to your team during multiplayer games to boost their stats, or apply special effects. |
