The official website has revealed that Marth is no longer the main character and you play as a new recruit to the Altean Knights.
This new feature , called "My Unit", allows you to customise the character, allowing you name him or her, change their appearance class and background story. the My Unit can also talk to other units to get hints and tips.
New chapters are also included in the game which focuses on the My Unit.
It's a remake of Mystery of the Emblem originally for the SNES for the DS. The story follows on from Shadow Dragon.

Bout time they release another one. I was getting a bit disillusioned with the older games. I hope they come out with a new Wii fire emblem game that's not a sequel to any others. I miss originality :(

Yea, a brand new game would be nice. A remake or not, I thought the plot of Shadow Dragon was pretty weak and the ability to change classes (while a little irrational) was the only thing that didn't just make a step backwards as FE games go. Having to wipe out half your party to get the new characters was pretty bad too. Not that many characters actually had personalities...

Japanese release is next week (the 15th). No date for North America/Europe. If they follow the same release pattern as Shadow Dragon it'll be November - February time for the English releases. They'll probably need to get it out before the 3DS.

3DS is backwards compatible, so it accepts DS carts.
